Artists, vendors, and attendees filled the Caloosa Sound Convention Center during the Florida Gulf Coast Tattoo Expo 2025 in Downtown Fort Myers.
For one weekend, Downtown Fort Myers became the center of tattoo culture in Southwest Florida. The Florida Gulf Coast Tattoo Expo returned June 27-29, 2025, bringing together artists, vendors, performers, and spectators from across the country and beyond. Held inside the recently renovated Caloosa Sound Convention Center, the event blended live tattooing, entertainment, and creative expression into a nonstop three-day experience.
We sent our camera operator, Jamaal Rolle, to cover the expo throughout the weekend and capture the energy that filled every corner of the venue.
inside the convention floor
A Convention Floor in Constant Motion
From the moment the doors opened, the atmosphere felt immersive. Tattoo artists worked live throughout the convention floor while crowds moved between booths watching designs come to life in real time. The event featured more than 200 local, national, and international artists tattooing on-site, giving attendees the chance to either schedule appointments or walk up and get tattooed during the weekend.
Every section of the convention center offered something different, from large-scale tattoo booths and vendor displays to live entertainment and tattoo contests happening throughout the day. Close-up shots of artists at work contrasted with the larger convention atmosphere, creating a balance between the artistry itself and the scale of the event.
For one weekend, Downtown Fort Myers became a live canvas.
One of the standout elements was the diversity of styles and personalities throughout the expo. Attendees were not just there for tattoos. Vendors offered jewelry, fashion, oddities, artwork, and local goods, turning the event into a larger creative and cultural experience. Throughout the weekend, live music, entertainment, and contests kept the energy high both inside the venue and throughout Downtown Fort Myers afterward.

A Platform Built Around Tattoo Artistry and Community Connection
The Florida Gulf Coast Tattoo Expo has quickly become one of Southwest Florida’s largest tattoo-focused events, bringing together artists and attendees from across the country in Downtown Fort Myers. Hosted inside the Caloosa Sound Convention Center, the expo is designed to celebrate tattoo artistry while creating opportunities for artists, vendors, and the public to connect in one shared space.
Tattoo expos serve a larger role within tattoo culture beyond simply showcasing artwork. They create professional networking opportunities for artists, allow attendees to discover different styles and techniques, and give the public a closer look into the artistry and skill behind tattooing. The event also featured daily tattoo contests judged by recognized industry artists, helping highlight standout work created during the weekend itself.
More than tattoos, the expo showcased creativity, culture, and community.
The location in Downtown Fort Myers adds another layer to the event. Positioned within the River District and next to the waterfront, the expo naturally extends into the surrounding area, encouraging visitors to explore local restaurants, nightlife, and businesses throughout the weekend.
why it matters
How the Expo Shapes the Local Creative Economy and Arts Community
Events like this create a significant impact for both the local creative community and the Downtown Fort Myers economy. Multi-day conventions attract artists, vendors, and visitors who travel into the area, supporting nearby hotels, restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues throughout the weekend.
The expo also contributes to the growing recognition of tattooing as an art form. By giving artists a professional platform to showcase their work publicly, the event helps bridge the gap between tattoo culture and the broader arts community. Attendees are able to watch the creative process happen live, interact directly with artists, and gain a better understanding of the technical skill behind the work.
For Southwest Florida, the event reflects the continued growth of alternative arts and creative culture in the region. What once may have been considered niche has evolved into a large-scale community event that attracts thousands of attendees and artists from around the world. According to local coverage, the expo featured more than 235 artists and 171 booths during previous years of the event.
SWFL Spotlight · Perspective
Every Booth Had Its Own Story, and Every Artist Brought Something Different to the Floor
From our perspective, what stood out most was the level of artistry happening in real time. Every booth had its own style, personality, and creative process unfolding right in front of the crowd. That kind of environment creates constant opportunities for storytelling because no two moments look the same.
Visually, the expo balanced controlled artistic focus with the energy of a packed convention floor. Capturing both sides of that experience made the event especially dynamic on camera. Events like this continue to show how diverse and creative Southwest Florida’s culture has become, bringing together artists, businesses, and communities in ways that feel both modern and authentic.
Every booth had its own story, and every artist brought something different to the floor.
What we look for in events like this is simple: are people engaged, or are they just passing through? At the Florida Gulf Coast Tattoo Expo, the answer was clear. The convention floor had consistent energy from open to close, and the artistry happening at every station gave our camera operator something worth capturing at every turn.
